These pages describe the latest public WavePhase release. If something looks different in your build, check for an app update.

    Working reliably

Shows, versions & opening older files

WavePhase is built so a show you trust today still opens tomorrow. Here is how versions and updates behave when you are preparing a festival or install.

    Your show file

A .wphase package holds fixtures, patch, graph, layout, and media in one file. Each save records a show format version inside the package.

    • Opening a show from an older WavePhase upgrades it in memory — you confirm first; the file on disk does not change until you save.
    • Opening a show from a newer WavePhase may drop settings this build does not understand. Updating the app first is safer.
    • Crash recovery and autosave restore the last good session if something exits unexpectedly.

    Updates before a show

    Freeze what works

Once a show is proven on the rig, many operators stay on that app build until after the event. Download the installer you validated, keep the.wphase on local storage, and treat Cloud as a backup — not the only copy.

When you do update, skim the release notes and reopen the show once in a quiet rehearsal before trusting it live. Compatibility is designed for upgrades; rehearsal still belongs in your checklist.

    Accounts and licenses

Your perpetual license keeps working on builds you already have. Updates after the included window are available by renewing from your account at the then-current yearly rate. Signing in is for Cloud, PatchBay, and license management — the desk itself runs offline once activated.
