    Controlling Fixtures

    Bring everything together: wire signals into fixture channels, send them as DMX, and add hands-on control from MIDI, OSC, or the built-in web surface.

    Wiring signals to channels

    A Fixture Out node exposes one input pin per channel of its definition. Drive each channel from whatever you like:

      Intensity from audio

      Wire an Envelope Peak or a smoothed band into the intensity channel so brightness follows the music.

      Movement from animators

      Wire Animators into pan/tilt for tempo-locked movement; offset their phase across a group for a wave.
    3. 3

      Colour from key or visuals

      Drive colour from the detected Key, a Color node, or an animated value.

    Float vs. raw values

    With Use Float enabled, wire normalised 0..1 values and WavePhase scales them to DMX 0–255 automatically — the easiest approach. Disable it to send raw 0–255 integers when you need exact control (e.g. for discrete gobo or macro slots).

    Hands-on control

    • MIDI — bind a fader as a live master dimmer or a button as a blackout (see External I/O).
    • OSC — control parameters from an app or another machine.
    • DMX In — let a lighting console take over channels when you want manual control.

    The web control surface

    The Web Control node publishes a browser-based control surface: sliders, buttons, XY pads and colour pickers that drive output pins — a wireless remote for your show, no extra hardware required.

    Open Preferences → Remote control for the QR code. Choose Local network to serve it straight off the show machine, or Internet to reach it from anywhere through the WavePhase Cloud relay. Both serve the identical surface; internet links require a Cloud plan and a password.

    Blend automatic and manual

    The strongest shows mix both: let the music drive the bulk of the movement and intensity, and keep a few manual controls (master, colour, a "go bigger" macro) on a fader or the web surface for the moments that matter.

    Recall looks instantly

    Combine this with fixture cues to store complete looks and switch between them — by hand, on a beat, or from MIDI or an API trigger.
