Getting Started
Interface Overview
A tour of the WavePhase workspace — the dockable panels you'll use to analyse audio, build your signal patch, and preview output.
Three workspaces
WavePhase splits show building into three top-level pages — each remembers its own panel layout:
- Fixtures — fixture library, Art-Net/sACN patch, and the 2D/3D stage editor for placing rigs.
- Mapping — the logic graph, inspector, variables, and macros.
- Live — spectrum, waveform, stage monitors, DMX viewer, and Live Control surfaces for running the show.

Working in the signal patch
- Add a node: open the node menu, which is organised into categories — Triggers, Beat & Key, Audio, analysis helpers, External In, Logic, Math, Utility, Animation, Convert, Output, Fixtures, Visualization, and Notes.
- Connect pins: drag from an output pin to an input pin. Pins are colour-coded by value type and only compatible types connect.
- Inspect a node: select it to edit its parameters in the inspector. Most parameters can also be wired from other nodes.
- Annotate: drop Note nodes to label sections of a complex patch.
Hover for help
Most parameters have a tooltip explaining what they do — hover over a control to read it without leaving the patch.Preferences, keybinds, and remote control
- Preferences → Interface — themes (Midnight, Nightwave, Daylight, Softlight), UI scale, and workspace presets.
- Preferences → Keybinds — rebind graph shortcuts, pane toggles, and Live Control actions to your controller or keyboard.
- Preferences → Remote control — enable Web Control and copy the QR link for phones and tablets on your LAN or via Cloud relay.
- WavePhase Cloud — sync shows and settings from your dashboard; packaged shows include embedded media and restore on download.
The dockable workspace
Within each workspace page, panels can be dragged to split, tab, or float. Layouts persist per page so a laptop mapping setup and a three-screen Live rig both survive restarts.
Projects
Your fixtures, signal patch, and node state are saved together in a project. Save often with Ctrl+S (or Cmd+S on macOS). Early-access builds may change file format between releases — keep backups of show files you rely on.
Live control surfaces
Beyond the patch, drive values from Live Control surfaces, MIDI learn, OSC, or Web Control — see Live Control and External I/O.
