A QLC+ alternative for live node-based lighting and visuals

QLC+ (Q Light Controller Plus) is a widely used lighting controller with native Art-Net and sACN input/output. WavePhase is a different workflow: a live node graph, desktop DSP analysis, Stage 3D, GPU visuals, Web Control, and optional API/MCP. This is not a claim that QLC+ cannot control lights.

    Workflow difference

    1. 01WavePhase: route live values (audio DSP, time, MIDI, OSC, API) through a node graph into fixtures and visuals.
    2. 02QLC+: a lighting-controller model with universes, functions, and network I/O — including Art-Net and E1.31/sACN plugins documented by the QLC+ project.

    When each product may fit

    • When WavePhase may fit better

You want audio DSP and beat as first-class sources, a live patch, Stage 3D preview, pixel mapping plus Screen Out, phone Web Control, or HTTP/MCP automation on paid tiers.

    • When QLC+ may fit better

You want an open lighting controller with a traditional function/cue/virtual-console workflow, broad protocol plugins, and a project that matches how you already program desks. QLC+ documents Art-Net and sACN I/O in depth.

    Limitations and transparency

Checked August 2026 against QLC+ Art-Net and E1.31/sACN documentation (docs.qlcplus.org and project plugin docs). Competitor limitations that could not be sourced are omitted.

QLC+ and Q Light Controller Plus are names of an independent open-source project. WavePhase is not affiliated with QLC+.
